Slide repair on Idaho 3 underway this morning, limits in place for at least the next week

COEUR d'ALENE - Another north Idaho highway has been impacted by the moisture of a historic Idaho winter. Crews started repairs this morning (Thursday, April 6) to a 100-foot section of Idaho 3 at Black Lake (milepost 102.45) that is sliding about an inch per day. Limitations will be in place for at least the next week.

The Idaho Transportation Department will remove the surface layer of asphalt and build the road back up with additional road base material. The section will be reduced to one lane during repairs today, opening back up to two lanes once these repairs have been completed. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph, and will remain in place for the safety of drivers and motorcyclists, while crews monitor the slide.
