Public can view preliminary design May 4 in Burley for upcoming I-84/I-86 interchange replacement
BURLEY – The public can review and comment on proposed changes to the I-84/I-86 interchange east of Burley on Thursday (May 4) at an open-house meeting.
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) expects construction to start in late 2017 and is scheduled to last two years. Work will include bridge replacement, realignment of the junction, and a complex traffic-control plan.
The open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Burley City Hall at 1401 Overland Avenue in Burley. Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to view preliminary designs, project illustrations, proposed traffic-control plans, and related information.
The project will improve safety and mobility at the interchange. The project will include replacement of two aging bridge structures. Both bridges, built in 1960, are functionally obsolete and restrict the width of vehicles on both routes. The design will address existing issues and make I-84 the primary route through the interchange.
Representatives from ITD and Stanley Consultants will be on hand to answer questions and gather input.
ITD is collecting public comments prior to the final stage of design. Written comments will be accepted at the meeting and may be submitted through May 12. Comments can be mailed to ITD's District 4 Office, 216 South Date, Shoshone, ID 83352 or emailed to mike.scott@itd.idaho.gov.
