Road construction update for eastern Idaho, Sept. 19-26
RIGBY - Construction is still in full swing on several projects in eastern Idaho, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Here are the details for the region for Sept. 19-26:

I-15, Sunnyside I-15 Interchange to I-15B  The Sunnyside leg of the intersection of Sunnyside and Yellowstone Highway has reopened after being closed for a month for work on the railroad crossing and the roadway. The intersection of Sunnyside and Yellowstone continues to be restricted to one lane in each direction with a four-way stop at the intersection. Idaho Construction of Kimberly expects to complete work on the entire $23 million project later this fall.

I-15, Osgood Girder Repair  One northbound lane of I-15 is closed during work hours at the Osgood overpass north of Idaho Falls while repairs to the structure are completed. Osgood Road (North Church Farm/49 North Road) over the interstate is closed for the repairs. Alternate routes for local traffic are Exit 119 in Idaho Falls and Payne Road (81st North) about two miles north. Repairs are expected to take until the first week of October.

U.S. 20/26/93  Tom Cat Hill East paving is under way on the highway through Craters of the Moon National Monument and is expected to take about a month to complete. Traffic is reduced to one lane, guided by pilot car, except at night and on weekends. Delays can total up to 45 minutes. Western Construction is building a new alignment of the highway for two miles and rebuilding 8.8 miles of roadway. Work will continue into October.

Approach Slabs  Work has started on bridge approach slabs on the Lewisville overpass on U.S. 20 in Idaho Falls. Traffic is reduced to one lane. A width restriction of 15 feet is in effect. Work also has begun on the Snake River Bridge east of Roberts on Idaho 48 where a 12-foot width restriction is in effect. Traffic is controlled by an electronic signal. The work is scheduled to be complete the third week of October.

U.S. 20  Ashton to Dump Ground Road paving has begun on U.S. 20 from Ashton north to the old dump ground road on the Ashton Hill. The project is a pavement rehabilitation and includes asphalt paving. The highway will be seal coated next year. Traffic is restricted to one lane, guided by pilot car. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph through the work zone.
