New traffic pattern begins Saturday morning on I-15 between Lava Beds and Bonneville County Line

POCATELLO – Crews will move Interstate 15 traffic into a new “crossover” lane Saturday morning (May 20) in the construction zone between the Lava Beds and Bonneville County Line.

The crossover lanes will allow all traffic to share the northbound side of I-15, reducing traffic to one lane in each direction while crews repave the southbound side. Drivers are reminded to slow down for wide loads, as the crossover lanes will not allow vehicles to pass.

The Idaho Transportation Department asks drivers to plan extra time, pay attention and slow down when traveling through the area.

All lanes of I-15 are expected to reopen by the end of the summer.

Construction between Lava Beds and the Bonneville County Line includes replacing deteriorated pavement, upgrading sections of guardrail and improving clearance under the bridges that cross I-15 at Base Line Road, River Road, Woodville Road (1500 North) and Woodville Church Road (700 North).

This project is among 10 maintenance projects scheduled this year along 190 miles of I-15 in eastern Idaho. To sign up for email notices about I-15 construction, text INTERSTATE15 to 22828.
