Weekend paving and I-84 lane restrictions will resume Friday (June 23) in Canyon County
BOISE – The Idaho Transportation Department reminds Canyon County drivers to plan ahead for a third round of extended Interstate 84 lane restrictions this weekend (June 23-26).
Starting at 7 p.m. Friday (June 23), the interstate will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the Franklin Road Interchange in Caldwell (Exit 29) and the Franklin Boulevard Interchange in Nampa (Exit 36).
All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday (June 26).
Both directions of traffic will use the westbound side of I-84 while crews place the top layer of new pavement on the eastbound lanes. The Franklin Road eastbound on-ramp (Exit 29) and the Karcher Road eastbound off-ramp (Exit 33) will be closed. Click here for a map of the traffic pattern.
ITD has scheduled the majority of construction over four weekends to keep I-84 open during the weekday commute. The final weekend is tentatively scheduled for July 7-10.
Construction on this section of I-84 was accelerated after harsh winter weather caused the pavement to deteriorate more quickly than anticipated. The project will prolong the pavement life until additional capacity can be added to I-84.
