Final weekend of I-84 paving scheduled July 7-10 with lane restrictions in Canyon County

BOISE –The Idaho Transportation Department reminds drivers to plan ahead for a final weekend of lane restrictions July 7-10 for paving on Interstate 84 between Nampa and Caldwell.

I-84 will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 7 p.m. Friday (July 7) to 5 a.m. Monday (July 10) between the Franklin Road Interchange in Caldwell and the Franklin Boulevard Interchange in Nampa. Both directions of traffic will use the eastbound side of I-84 while crews place the top layer of new pavement on the westbound lanes.

The Karcher westbound on-ramp in Nampa and Franklin Road westbound off-ramp in Caldwell will be closed for the weekend. Click here for a map of the work zone.

ITD accelerated paving I-84 in Canyon County after harsh winter weather caused the pavement to deteriorate more quickly. The department scheduled the majority of construction over four weekends to keep I-84 open during the weekday commute.

“With only one weekend to go, we would like to thank everyone who planned ahead or chose not to travel on I-84 during the first three weekend paving operations,” said ITD District 3 Engineer Amy Revis. “The weekend-only approach to construction was a new approach for ITD. Thanks to exceptional management, sound planning, a great contractor and an informed public, construction has gone very smoothly.”

Updates about this weekend’s restrictions are available at itd.idaho.gov or by email. Text INTERSTATE84 to 22828 to request email updates.
