Public invited to view final design of I-84, I-86 junction replacement
BURLEY – The public is invited to a presentation on the final design for changes to the I-84, I-86 Salt Lake System Interchange east of Burley. The project includes bridge replacement, realignment of the junction, and a complex traffic control plan during the two-year project.
The presentation will be in conjunction with the regular meeting of the Mini-Cassia Transportation Committee at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Connor’s Café, 335 South 600 West, in Heyburn (just north of I-84 at Exit 208)
The presentation will cover details of the final design, project illustrations, construction schedule, and traffic control plans. Representatives from ITD and the Stanley Consultants design team will be on hand to answer questions and gather input.
The purpose of the project is to improve safety and mobility on the I-84, I-86 interstate system interchange located in eastern Cassia County. The project will replace two original bridges, built in 1960, address roadway issues, and will make I-84 the primary route through the interchange. The bridges are considered functional obsolete and impact trucking with existing width restrictions.
Construction is planned to start in late 2017 and conclude in late fall 2019.
