UPDATE: Repairs on Idaho Highway 53 near Post Falls slated to begin Sept. 13
Note: This work has been rescheduled from an original Sept. 6 start date.
POST FALLS - Crews will grind down the existing roadway and repave sections of Idaho Highway 53 north of Post Falls Wednesday (Sept. 13), restricting traffic to one lane.
Construction is expected to start at 8:30 a.m. to allow unimpeded morning school-bus traffic, and end at 5 p.m. Work will start at the Washington border and extend seven miles to the east, repairing four areas of the road severely damaged during this year's historic winter.
Flaggers will direct traffic. However, local traffic is advised to use alternative routes to avoid construction.
Northwest Road and Drive, of Coeur d'Alene, is the contractor for this project, part of a $1.7 million rehabilitation of roads deteriorated by this past winter.
