Two public meeting scheduled for Galena Summit project
SHOSHONE – The public is invited to review and comment on the proposed construction work to stabilize a landslide and complete road work over Galena Summit at a pair of public open house meetings next week. The Idaho Transportation Department will be presenting its plans to local citizens in both Ketchum and Stanley.
Meetings will be held at the following times and locations:
• Tuesday, Oct. 10, 4:30-7 p.m., Ketchum City Hall, 480 East Avenue North, Ketchum
• Wednesday, Oct. 11, 4:30-7 p.m., Stanley Community Building, Eva Falls Avenue, Stanley.
Those interested in the project may drop in anytime during the meeting to view preliminary designs, project illustrations, environmental considerations, and construction information.
The purpose of the project is to remove and utilize rock from roadside outcroppings along Idaho Highway 75 for use as buttressing for an active earthen slide on the south side of Galena Summit. All work lies between milepost 153 and 162 and could impact traffic and recreational opportunities for as much as 24 months.
Representatives from the Idaho Transportation Department design team will be on hand to answer questions and gather input. Written comments will be accepted at the meeting and may be submitted through Oct. 27. Comments can be mailed to ITD's District 4 Office, 216 South Date, Shoshone, ID 83352 or emailed to nathan.jerke@itd.idaho.gov.
