Public open house to be held Feb. 15 in Shoshone for US-26 improvements
SHOSHONE – The public is invited to review and comment on the proposed reconstruction of a 4.7-mile section of US-26 west from Shoshone — from Ohlinger Road to the US-26/US-93 junction — at an open house on Thursday (Feb. 15).
Those interested are invited to attend the open house any time between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the ITD District 4 Office (216 South Date Street, Shoshone).
Improvements to the roadway include removing and replacing asphalt, followed by regrading the roadway base before repaving with a new asphalt surface. Work in the city of Shoshone also will include repairing and replacing the storm-water system, installing new ADA-compliant sidewalk approaches, and at the Apple Street railroad crossing.
In order to complete the in-town work, temporary closures of sidewalks and city streets will be necessary.
Project team members will be available to discuss the roadway safety improvements and expectations during construction, which is planned for 2019.
Written testimony will be accepted at the meeting and may be submitted through March 2. Comments can be mailed to the ITD District 4, Attn: Douglas Yearsley, 216 South Date, Shoshone, ID 83352 or emailed to douglas.yearsley@itd.idaho.gov.
