Online survey participants will help the transportation department prepare for the future
BOISE – The Idaho Transportation Department wants the public’s input on how it can most effectively prepare for changes in technology, funding, demographics and economics.
A new online survey is asking the public what kinds of priorities the department should focus on from now to the year 2040.
The survey is part of the department’s effort to update the “Long-Range Transportation Plan: IDAGO 2040.” The survey asks participants to prioritize transportation strategies and balance trade-offs. It also asks for public input on how the department should spend additional funds that are not designated for specific projects or activities.
The survey is interactive, and uses graphics to help those participating understand the questions. It is designed to take 5 to 10 minutes to complete, and consists of five slides.
“The survey is intended to allow participants to give meaningful input quickly,” said Ken Kanownik, a planner with the transportation department. “We understand people are busy, and want to make it convenient and easy to give input.”

The transportation department’s “Long-Range Transportation Plan: IDAGO 2040” also includes stakeholder meetings and public meetings throughout Idaho. The first one is being held in Idaho Falls in early March.
