Eastbound traffic switched via crossover next week as replacement of I-84 Salt Lake Interchange east of Burley continues

SHOSHONE - Replacement of the Salt Lake Interchange on Interstate 84, underway since May, takes another big step the week of July 9. Eastbound traffic will be shifted into a two-way, two-lane crossover built to route traffic away from the existing interchange so that it can be removed.

Once shifted, eastbound traffic will be using the westbound lanes in that area.

Speeds will be reduced to 65 mph, with restrictions for 12-foot lane widths.

The old interchange, built in 1960 and located about 15 miles east of Burley, is being replaced during the next two construction seasons. The eastbound side will be replaced this year, with the westbound side expected to finish by late 2020.

Wadsworth Brothers Construction, of Draper, Utah is the prime contractor on this $27.6 million project.
