Motorists to use new U.S. 95 alignment north of Genesee - (RESENDING with correction)
(Note: This corrects a version that was just distributed with incomplete information. Please disregard earlier version.)

LEWISTON - Motorists traveling south of Moscow on U.S. 95 will begin using a new alignment between Thorncreek Road and the Genesee-Juliaetta junction, the Idaho Transportation announced.

Crews finished painting temporary lane stripes on the 7.5-mile segment of U.S. 95 and will split northbound and southbound traffic effective Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 14).

The highway provides two-lane, limited access travel in both directions. The split will occur just north of Thorncreek Road and continue to about one mile north of the Genesee-Juliaetta junction where it will return to single lanes in each direction on the same alignment.

Crews will apply permanent pavement markers to the section of highway next spring.

The $18 million project began in the spring of 2005 and will meet a similar four-lane divided highway project from Genesee to the top of the Lewiston hill. That project is expected to be completed in 2007.
