South-central Idaho highway construction report for Dec. 8 - Dec. 15
SHOSHONE - Following is the south-central Idaho highway construction report for the region. Construction work is wrapping up for the season.

U.S. 93 Twin Falls Alternate Route Stage 1: Construction on the U.S. 93 Twin Falls Alternate Route from Washington Street to Blue Lakes Boulevard is suspended for the winter. Crews will finish raised concrete medians and landscaping from Fillmore Street to Washington Street in the spring.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use caution when driving through the newly constructed Stage 1. In conjunction with the introduction of raised medians, U-turn capabilities have been interspersed to allow for left hand turns. New speed limits have been posted and are being enforced.

Truck drivers should use Blue Lakes Boulevard to Addison Avenue.

Western Construction of Boise is the contractor for the $18.8 million Stage 1 project.

Idaho 75, Basin Creek Bridge: Crews are replacing the Basin Creek Bridge on Idaho 75 (milepost 197), seven miles north of Stanley. Traffic is reduced from two lanes to one, controlled by a temporary traffic signal. The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph, and delays of up to 10 minutes should be expected. Vehicles are limited to a maximum width of 11 feet in the work zone. Cannon Builders Inc. of Blackfoot is the contractor for this $1 million project, which is expected to be complete by spring 2007.

Idaho 24, Milner Gooding Canal Bridge: Crews continue work on the Milner Gooding Canal Bridge on Idaho 24 (milepost 65) west of Dietrich. One-way traffic is detoured around the bridge, controlled by a temporary traffic signal. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Vehicles are limited to a maximum width of 16 feet through the construction zone, and the speed limit is reduced to 35 mph.

Idaho Construction Inc. of Kimberly is the contractor for this project, which is expected to be complete by spring 2007.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in highway construction zones. Rear-end collisions account for most work-zone crashes.
