Public meetings to discuss I-84 widening between Nampa and Meridian Dec. 13-14
BOISE - An open house to provide information and gather input about a widening project on Interstate 84 between the Garrity Boulevard and Meridian Road interchanges will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 13 and 14, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

Two identical open houses will be held:

Wednesday, Dec. 13, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Idaho Center, 16200 Idaho Center Blvd. in Nampa

Thursday, Dec. 14, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Meridian Police Department, 1401 E. Watertower Ave. in Meridian

The I-84 Garrity Interchange to Meridian Interchange project will relieve existing traffic congestion, increase capacity and improve safety. The project will design and build an additional eastbound and westbound lane on I-84 between the Garrity Boulevard and Meridian Road interchanges.

Environmental work and preliminary design is under way. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2007.

The I-84 Garrity Interchange to Meridian Interchange project was identified in the I-84 Corridor Study, completed in 2001. The study, a partnership between the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and ITD, examined the transportation system needs for I-84 from the WYE Interchange to Idaho 44, west of Caldwell.

This project is part of Connecting Idaho, a funding program that allows Idaho to plan, design and build highway projects in less time.
