Idaho 21 will close from Grandjean junction to Banner summit
GRANDJEAN - Idaho 21 from the Grandjean junction to the Banner summit will close Wednesday evening because of avalanche danger, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

A reopening of the route has not been scheduled.

Idaho 21 is a regional route between Stanley and the Treasure Valley. The 9-mile section of the highway between Banner Summit and Grandjean, called Canyon Creek, has 54 avalanche chutes and experiences about 90 percent of the avalanches in the state.  It is closed an average of 60 days per year.

Motorists are advised to check the Idaho Transportation Department's website at www.511.idaho.gov for updates on Idaho 21. At the Select A Region section, click on Southwest. Road information is also available by calling 511.
