Weight and speed restrictions to be placed on U.S. 2 and Idaho 200 beginning Monday (Feb. 26)

COEUR d'ALENE - U.S. 2 and Idaho 200 in Bonner County will have speed and weight restrictions in place beginning Monday (Feb. 26), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.  The highways are beginning to show stress from a severe freeze/thaw cycle in recent weeks.

The weight restriction for both highways is 14,000 pounds per axle, and the speed limit is reduced to 30 mph.

The restrictions on U.S. 2 will be from Oldtown to Sandpoint (milepost 0 to milepost 28.3), and on Idaho 200 from the U.S. 95 Junction to the Idaho/Montana state line (milepost 30.0 to milepost 63.11).  The restrictions will be in place until further notice.

For current highway and weather conditions throughout the state, access the Idaho Traveler Services Web site at 511.idaho.gov or call 511 from phones within Idaho. Reports are updated twice daily or whenever conditions change on Idaho highways.
