Center turn lane to be added to Idaho 55 through Horseshoe Bend beginning after Memorial Day weekend

BOISE - Construction will begin Tuesday, May 31, on a center turn lane on Idaho 55 through Horseshoe Bend, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

In addition to the turn lane between the Payette River bridge in town and the Idaho 52, the project includes a seal coat of Idaho 55 in Horseshoe Bend.

Crews will not work between noon Friday and 7 a.m. Monday or during any major community activities during the project. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction during work hours. The speed limit will be reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph. Flaggers will assist traffic as needed. Motorists should allow time for minor delays.

The seal coat will be applied to the road after the turn lane is finished in August. During the seal coat, traffic will be reduced to one-lane, managed by flaggers, for about three days while the work is completed.
