MEDIA ADVISORY: Press event on Monday, Nov. 19 as law enforcement agencies unite to honor Jacob Leeder

COEUR d’ALENE—Kootenai County law enforcement agencies will discuss their partnership this holiday season to prevent impaired driving at a media event on Monday, November 19.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. at the Idaho State Police building at 615 West Wilbur Avenue in Coeur d'Alene.

This year, law enforcement agencies and local businesses have joined forces in memory of Jacob Leeder, the son of Sergeant Tim Leeder with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. He died last December after the vehicle he was riding in was struck by a drunk driver.

The Leeder family, along with representatives from participating agencies and businesses, will attend and be available for comment.

The drama department from Lakeland High School will also provide their public service announcement featuring local law enforcement and the Leeder family to remind drivers to choose wisely this holiday season.

ITD’s Office of Highway Safety routinely funds law enforcement patrols to encourage safe driving behaviors.
