Government Way reconstruction project in Hayden to begin Wednesday, March 14
HAYDEN - Reconstruction of one mile of Government Way through the city of Hayden will begin Wednesday (March 14), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project will reconstruct the road from Honeysuckle Avenue to Miles Avenue.
The traffic control plan includes a detour for northbound traffic. Motorists will be directed to U.S. 95 at Honeysuckle Avenue and continue north to Miles Avenue, then east to Government Way. Southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane at all times. Access to local businesses will be maintained from Government Way and local side streets. Flaggers will guide traffic through the area. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
In addition to reconstructing the roadway, the project will include new water and sewer lines, curbs and sidewalks. The traffic signal at Honeysuckle will be replaced and a new signal will be installed at Hayden Avenue.
The city's plan for downtown improvements also includes extensive landscaping along the corridor, and street lighting.
The contractor for the $4.5 million project is Norm's Utility of Coeur d'Alene. The work is expected to be completed by Oct. 1.
