REMINDER: ITD and law enforcement agencies partner tomorrow to raise awareness at Aht’wy Plaza
LEWISTON—Multiple agencies are coordinating a special event tomorrow (Friday, December 28) to raise awareness and remind drivers to look out for each other on US-12 near Aht’wy Plaza.
Recent deaths have prompted the extra efforts from participating agencies, including Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office, Nez Perce Tribal Police, Idaho State Police and ITD.
Officers will be placed near the entrances to the Clearwater River Casino and Lodge. The patrol will start at 10 a.m. with a team briefing at ISP and last for four hours.
“This exercise will help drivers stay engaged and exercise caution, while also providing us with another perspective on crashes at this location,” ITD Traffic Engineer Jared Hopkins said. “We are all partners in safety and are committed to working together.”
Members of the media are welcome to attend, and members of the public can follow along with agencies’ efforts by following these hashtags on social media: #US12casino #live #patrolpartners.
