Motorists advised to expect temporary delays on Idaho 21 Thursday morning (March 15) for avalanche control work
BOISE - Motorists may encounter delays on Idaho 21 between Grandjean junction and Banner summit on Thursday morning (March 15) to allow maintenance crews to do avalanche control work, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

Between 9:30 a.m. and noon, intermittent delays are anticipated for the work. Flaggers will direct motorists through the area.

Idaho 21 is a regional route between Stanley and the Treasure Valley. The 9-mile section of highway between Banner summit and the Grandjean junction, called Canyon Creek, has 54 avalanche chutes and experiences about 90 percent of the avalanches in the state.

During the winter months, the Idaho Transportation Department advises motorists to monitor road conditions by visiting www.511.idaho.gov or calling 5-1-1.
