UPDATE: New schedule for overnight closures planned March 4-8 on I-84 for Cloverdale Overpass work
BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department will close sections of I-84 in Boise during overnight hours beginning Monday, March 4 weather permitting. Crews will to place girders for the new Cloverdale Overpass bridge.
The closures have been updated* and will be as follows:
- Monday and Tuesday (March 4 & 5) - From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. all eastbound lanes of I-84 will be closed between the Eagle Road interchange and the Cole/Overland interchange. Two of the four westbound lanes in this section will also be closed. Eastbound traffic will be detoured off the Interstate at Eagle Rd. Motorists can use Franklin or Overland to head east until the Flying Wye or the Cole/Overland interchange, to access the interstate.
- Wednesday and Thursday (March 6 & 7) - From 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. all westbound lanes of I-84 will be closed between
the Cole/Overland interchange and the Eagle Road interchange. Two of
the four eastbound lanes in this section will also be closed. Westbound
traffic will be detoured off the Interstate at Cole/Overland or the
Flying Wye. Motorists can use Franklin Road or Overland Road to head
west to Eagle Road, where they can access the interstate.
Construction crews will set girders for the new Cloverdale Overpass bridge, which spans I-84. The closures are required to preserve the safety of the traveling public and allow the work to be done. These overnight closures are the final anticipated interstate closures needed for this project.
"We are making considerable progress on the bridge replacement and road widening for Cloverdale," said Jayme Coonce, ITD resident engineer. "This has been an accelerated project since day one and a testament to the partnership and good work of ITD and the Ada County Highway District. We appreciate the public's support and patience during construction as we complete these improvements."
The project, which began in January, will widen Cloverdale Road from two lanes to four travel lanes with bike lanes and sidewalks. More information about the project can be found on ACHD's website.
*Plans have changed to have the first two nights of closures impact all eastbound lanes and the third and fourth nighttime closures to impact the westbound lanes. Previous plans had this order reversed.
