These shipments are reducible, meaning cargo or goods can be removed to make a shipment lighter.

The hearing will be in Emmett on Wednesday (April 10) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Kenneth Carberry Elementary School, 1950 E. 12th Street.

Comments will be taken on an application to allow trucks weighing up to 129,000 pounds on Idaho 52 from Milepost 14.4 (the highway’s intersection with Idaho 72) to Milepost 28.4 in Emmett.

Comments also will be taken on an application to allow trucks weighing up to 129,000 pounds on a section of Idaho 52 in Emmett (Milepost 28.4) to the highway’s intersection with Idaho 16 (Milepost 30.42).

In addition, comments will be taken on an application to allow trucks weighing up to 129,000 pounds on Idaho 72 from Milepost 0 (the highway’s intersection with U.S. 30) to Milepost 1.99 (the highway’s intersection with Idaho 52).

Currently, the maximum allowable weight for reducible loads on these highway sections is 105,500 pounds.

Hearings on these route applications were held in December of 2018. An additional hearing is being held to give stakeholders more time to learn about and comment on the route applications.

At the hearing in April, there will be an opportunity to give verbal or written testimony.

In addition, displays will illustrate the routes being applied for. Idaho Transportation Department staff will be available to answer questions about the route applications and 129,000-pound trucks.
