Weather may delay reopening of US-12 between Greer and Kamiah; media opportunity available TODAY at 11 a.m. in Greer
LEWISTON—Due to continued sliding on US-12 between Greer and Kamiah, reopening of the highway may not be possible until the forecast changes. To provide a closer look at the conditions on the highway and the work crews are doing to clear slides, there will be an opportunity for media to be escorted through the work area for footage and interviews.
Those interested in participating in this opportunity should plan on meeting near the Greer Bridge no later than 11 a.m. Participants should come prepared for muddy and wet conditions. An ITD representative will be available to lead participants through the work zone and answer questions.

Since the first slide closed the road on Tuesday, there have been more than 10 areas between Greer and Kamiah that have been blocked by debris or had water on the roadway. Crews are actively trying to clear the road but slides in the area remain active.
Between continued slides and the time necessary to clean up debris and repair roadway sections, the closure on US-12 may continue.
“Right now we are at the mercy of the weather,” operations manager Bob Schumacher said. “Conditions out there are unpredictable, so we ask that drivers remain patient as we work hard to reopen the road.”
Drivers are advised to check 511.idaho.gov for the latest updates on road conditions.
