I-90 Blue Creek Bay Bridge project to begin April 2, will include lane width restrictions
COEUR D'ALENE - A bridge deck rehabilitation project at Blue Creek Bay on Interstate 90 will begin April 2, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project will include width restrictions through the project area.

Work will begin with the eastbound lanes. Traffic will be diverted onto the two westbound lanes, with one travel lane in each direction. Lane widths will be restricted to 14 feet.

A detour for bicyclists also will be in effect. Westbound bicyclists will be diverted at the Idaho 97 Interchange to Timothy Lane to Yellowstone Trail Road. The detour will continue to Coeur d'Alene Lake Drive to I-90 at Sherman Avenue. Eastbound bicyclists will use the same detour route.

The old bridge deck will be removed using high-intensity water pressure. A new concrete deck will then be poured into place.

The contractor for this $2.2 million project is Harcon Inc. of Spokane, Wash. Work is expected to be complete by Oct. 1.
