Public invited to discuss Slate Creek Bridge Project April 10 and 11
SHOSHONE - Public meetings to discuss the reconstruction of Idaho 75 Slate Creek Bridge will be held April 10 and 11 in the Stanley and Challis areas, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Two meetings have been scheduled, the first to be held April 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Stanley at the Stanley Community Center, located on Highway 21. The second meeting will be April 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Challis at the City Council Chambers in the old Middle School building at 721 Main St.
The meetings will provide an overview of the purpose and need for the proposed Slate Creek Bridge reconstruction project, explain the construction schedule and phasing, and offer the public the opportunity to voice comments or concerns.
This project will reconstruct a bridge on Idaho 75 over the Salmon River near Slate Creek (milepost 213), 9 miles west of Clayton. The new bridge will be built 38 feet upstream and adjacent to the current bridge. It will be wider, with a three-span structure. Traffic will continue across the old bridge until the new bridge is complete. Minor traffic delays are anticipated with an occasional major delay while the new bridge girders are being placed. Construction is currently planned for 2009. The work is anticipated to occur over a two-year period.
