Apparent low bidder announced for U.S. 95 Worley North project
COEUR d'ALENE - DeAtley Construction Company of Clarkston, Wash., is the apparent low bidder on a project that will reconstruct and realign approximately six miles of U.S. 95 north of Worley, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The low bid was nearly $39.7 million.

The project is the last in a series of projects that improve approximately 21 miles of U.S. 95, Idaho's main north-south route. The northern Idaho highway corridor will be a four-lane, divided highway with restricted access. A new interchange also will be constructed at the U.S. 95/Idaho 58 junction near the Coeur d'Alene Casino.

The first segment of highway, from Bellgrove to Mica, opened to traffic in November 2003. Phase 2 of the project, from south of Setters to Bellgrove, was split into two projects and is under construction. It should be completed and open to traffic this year.

Construction of the final segment also will be split into two projects. The six-mile segment north of Worley will be built with Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds. Construction will begin as soon as the contract is formally awarded and will take three years to complete.

Construction of the segment through Worley is dependent on the availability of future funds.
