Construction to resume on Chubbuck Road in Pocatello
POCATELLO - Construction will resume April 16 on the Chubbuck Road Overpass over Interstate 15 in Pocatello, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Chubbuck Road, which crosses over the interstate will close at 7 a.m. and remain inaccessible to traffic until completion of the project. Work includes resurfacing of the existing bridge deck by removing approximately two inches of the concrete surface and replacing it with a silica-fume concrete overlay.

Minor widening will be required to accommodate new guardrail.

The contractor asks residents and students in Chubbuck who are headed to the Highland area to plan alternate routes on Hiline Road to Pocatello Creek and Olympus.

The project should be completed by late June.

ITD and Cannon Builders Inc. also will close some north- and southbound lanes to continue work on the Clark Street Overpass southbound bridge. Southbound I-15 traffic will be detoured onto a northbound lane after the Pocatello Creek on-ramp. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the work zone as long as the detour is in place.

Interstate on- and off-ramps will remain open to Clark Street during the project. The revised traffic plan will be used until the project is completed.

East- and westbound traffic on Center Street will be limited to a single lane in each direction. The contractor expects delays throughout the week. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.

To avoid delays, drivers traveling north are asked to use the South 5th exit. Southbound traffic should use the Pocatello Creek exit.

Motorists should expect delays when traveling through the construction zone. ITD and project contractors ask motorists to be patient and drive carefully through the area.
