Public invited to Dec. 12 Open House for construction plans on ChindenWest Corridor

BOISE – Construction is underway on the ChindenWest Corridor, U.S. 20/26 from I-84 to Eagle Road, and the Idaho Transportation Department invites the public to an open house Thursday, Dec. 12 to learn more about the project.

Project managers and ITD staff will be available to share information about upcoming construction between Idaho Highway 16 and Eagle Road. Those who attend will:

  • Learn about construction phasing
  • Receive project timelines and milestones
  • See materials regarding the end product when construction is complete

The open house will be hosted at the Heritage Middle School Auxiliary Gym from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Members of the public are welcome to arrive at their convenience anytime during the meeting.

The ChindenWest corridor already sees some of the worst drive times in Idaho, while new developments from Eagle to Caldwell invite more traffic to the area. The ChindenWest project will address short term needs while anticipating long term demands. It will promote the safety, mobility, and economic opportunity along this east-west corridor.

Throughout construction, ITD is dedicated to keeping the public informed. The project website, ITDprojects.org/ChindenWest, serves as a hub of information for the public, including videos that provide a window into the future. Several segments of the ChindenWest Corridor will be under construction at different times and by different contractors. The one-stop-shop website includes detailed information about project development to launch this construction, anticipated traffic impacts, and the improvement designs. There, members of the public can also sign up for email updates.
