Segment of U.S. 12 to close in downtown Lewiston Monday
LEWISTON - U.S. 12, also known as the levee bypass, will be closed to traffic Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Signs will direct westbound motorists at the U.S. 12/5th Street intersection on to D Street; eastbound traffic will leave U.S. 12 at D Street and turn on to 1st Street. Signs will be posted at both ends of the detour, and a flagger will be stationed at 1st Street and D Street during the closure.

A&R Construction has been granted permission by ITD and the city of Lewiston, to close the route to facilitate the safe removal of air conditioning equipment from the old Twin City Foods building near the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers. Depending on progress of the removal, the route might be closed again Tuesday and Wednesday.

The closure was scheduled at times to avoid peak commuting periods in downtown Lewiston.
