ITD will replace Salmon River Bridge on Idaho 75 west of Clayton
RIGBY - The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will replace the Salmon River Bridge on Idaho 75 about 2 miles west of Clayton at milepost 220.
Construction is now under way and should be finished by Christmas. The old bridge will be removed in 2008.
During construction, motorists can expect 15-minute delays. At times, travel will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing eastbound and westbound traffic through the half-mile work zone.
The speed limit in the work area will be reduced to 45 mph.
For a 30-day period this fall, a 24-hour unmanned traffic signal at each end of the work area will govern traffic flow. Access to residences along the construction zone will be maintained. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and dark five to six days each week.
ITD awarded Morgen and Oswood Construction Company Inc. of Great Falls, Mont., the $6.76 million contract on Feb. 9.
Motorists are asked to drive carefully through the work zone.
