I-84 Ten Mile Overpass to reopen to one lane Wednesday (May 9)
BOISE - The I-84 Ten Mile Road Overpass is expected to reopen to one lane tomorrow afternoon (May 9) with restrictions for truck traffic, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
One lane of traffic will be allowed on the western side of the bridge. Two-way traffic will be managed with traffic signals on both ends of the bridge. Trucks that are over-weight, over-width or over-length will be restricted from using the bridge. The traffic restrictions will remain in place until the bridge is repaired at a later time.
The overpass and one lane of I-84 closed Sunday evening after the overpass was hit by an overheight vehicle that was traveling westbound on I-84.
ITD bridge engineers examined the structure and determined the western side of the bridge is safe for limited traffic. The majority of damage happened on the eastern side of the bridge where one girder was destroyed.
Motorists who use the reopened overpass should expect delays.
