U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow breakfast meeting Tuesday (May 10)

LEWISTON - A breakfast meeting to provide an update about the U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow project will be held Tuesday (May 10), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

The meeting will be from 7 to 8 a.m. at the Mark IV Restaurant, 414 N. Main St. in Moscow. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at this time and location.

At Tuesdays breakfast meeting, project staff will discuss the latest developments on the project and answer questions. Stephen Emerson of Archaeological and Historical Services at Eastern Washington University will be the featured speaker. Emerson recently completed a field survey of historic structures in the U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow corridor.

Emerson identified and recorded 35 historic properties, the majority of which are farm complexes associated with grain growing and dairying. The historic significance of the properties was evaluated based on criteria established for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Most of the properties did not meet the criteria because of remodeling, removal or other alterations of the original farm structures. However, some were judged significant because all or most of their original structural components were intact.

Emerson will discuss his work and answer questions at the breakfast meeting.

Coffee will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to order breakfast at their own expense.

The U.S. 95 Thorncreek Road to Moscow Project, led by ITD, will determine, design and construct an alignment for nearly 6.5 miles of U.S. 95 in Latah County. This portion of the project will result in an Environmental Impact Statement.
