Public meeting to discuss a future connection between I-84 and Idaho 44 scheduled for June 12
BOISE - A public information meeting will be held to discuss a potential roadway connecting Interstate 84 (I-84) and Idaho 44, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The meeting will be held in an open-house style from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at Birch Elementary School, 6900 Birch Lane in Nampa. The public is encouraged to attend any time during the four-hour period.

Meeting attendees will be asked to comment on the study's Purpose and Need Statement and the potential roadway concepts. The potential roadway would connect to I-84 between the proposed Ten Mile Interchange and the Garrity Interchange. The roadway would continue north, cross over the Boise River, and connect with Idaho 44 near the junction of Idaho 16.

There will be additional opportunities for the public to participate in this study including a public hearing. The public can provide comments at any time by visiting ITD's web site at www.itd.idaho.gov - click on Get Involved; choose Southwest Idaho; select I-84 to Idaho 44 Environmental Study.

The Idaho 16, I-84 to Idaho 44 Environmental Study is partially funded through the initial Grant Anticipated Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds that were authorized by the 2006 Legislature.  GARVEE is an innovative way for Idaho to use bond proceeds to build more highway projects in less time than through traditional funding methods.  The bonds will be repaid with future federal highway dollars.
