BOISE – Members of the media are invited to view the sliding into place of the second bridge at the Blacks Creek Interchange east of Boise the morning of Friday, August 7th.
Outlets wishing to send a reporter or photographer should RSVP with Jake Melder, ITD Public Information Officer, prior to Aug. 7th as space is limited within the construction site. Contact information is at the top of this release.

All witnesses must arrive at the eastbound Blacks Creek Rest Area, located between the Eisenman Interchange (Exit 59) and the Blacks Creek Interchange (Exit 64) by 6:30 a.m. August 7th. A carpool will take them into the work zone and a safe viewing area adjacent to the new bridge.
Access in the work zone requires a retroreflective safety vest, closed-toe shoes with safety toes, and a hardhat. ITD can provide this personal protective equipment upon request before the event. ITD strives to keep all people within a work zone safe. In accordance to health guidelines, the Department will do what it can to provide adequate space for social distancing in the worksite. Wearing a face mask will be required during the carpool, per ITD policy. Please remember summer heat is intense in this area. The Department strongly recommends witnesses wear appropriate apparel and bring extra water.
Witnesses should plan to spend about an hour in the construction zone. ITD personnel will be available for interviews at that time. The prime contractor for the project, Knife River Corp., will respond to previously-submitted questions in accordance with company policy. Questions can be submitted to Jake Melder. An on-site camera is in place to record a timelapse of the slide, similar to the first one. The timelapse will be available upon request shortly after the slide is complete.
