Outside lane to close on westbound I-84 for Eagle Road off-ramp work
BOISE - Westbound Interstate 84 will be reduced from four lanes to three beginning Friday night (June 6) at 8 p.m. to lengthen the Eagle Road westbound off-ramp, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
The right interstate lane and shoulder will be closed from just west of the Cloverdale Overpass to the Eagle Road westbound off-ramp during July and August. The closure will allow crews to extend the ramp 1,600 feet onto I-84.
ITD encourages motorists to plan extra time while traveling in the project area or consider an alternate route.
Lengthening the off-ramp is the last of several improvements to its connection with I-84 and Eagle Road. Work began in March to expand the off-ramp from two to four lanes. A traffic signal was added to the right turn lanes.
When complete, the off-ramp improvements are expected to reduce backups on the interstate and improve traffic flow at the intersection with Eagle Road.
The I-84 Eagle Westbound off-ramp is the first construction project in the Treasure Valley to use funding from Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds, which allow Idaho to construct needed highway improvements in less time than through traditional funding methods.
WF Construction of Meridian is the contractor for the $2.5 million project. It is on schedule for an August 2007 completion.
