Online meeting opens today, Dec. 4, to show potential US-20 interchange improvements in Rexburg
REXBURG – The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will host an online public meeting starting today, Dec. 4, through Dec. 18 to show potential improvements to the University Boulevard and SH-33 interchanges on U.S. 20 in Rexburg (Exits 332 and 333).
Community members may visit: itdprojects.org/us20rexburg at their convenience to watch a series of short videos, see a map of recommended improvements, and provide comments.
A recent study of the area shows that traffic delays at both interchanges will reach unacceptable levels in future years. ITD is working with the city of Rexburg, Madison County and BYU Idaho to evaluate and design potential improvements for both interchanges.
“We looked at geographic constraints, delay times, cost, safety and local agency input for a range of scenarios. Now we are looking for input from the community about the recommended design,” said ITD Project Manager Zak Johnson.
Anyone without internet access is encouraged to email Megan.Stark@itd.idaho.gov or call (208) 745-5611 to request hard copies of meeting materials.
Input from the online meeting will help ITD confirm the recommended design and move forward with further design and construction.
Design plans are expected to be completed in 2021. Construction is scheduled for 2023.
