It's not too late to register for North Idaho Teacher Aviation Workshop
BOISE - Space still is available, but registration will close July 10 for the North Idaho Teacher Aviation Workshop set for July 12-13 in Coeur d'Alene at the airport's Civil Air Patrol hangar. The Idaho Transportation Department's Division of Aeronautics will sponsor the workshop.

The training is designed to help educators learn ways to incorporate aviation subjects into regular classroom lessons, according to Frank Lester, safety/education coordinator for the aeronautics division.

"This is an exciting opportunity to learn unique ways of integrating aviation into mathematics and science while at the same time linking it with reading, social studies and technology," Lester said. "This fun-filled, hands-on workshop will feature aviation-related activities that show how aviation can connect those subjects in the real world."

"While information covered in the workshop is primarily for grades 4-8, the lessons are appropriate for all grades through high school."

College credit will be available for those who complete the two-day workshop. "Although time is short, there is still plenty of room for interested teachers," Lester said.

For more information about the workshop or the registration process, visit the "Teacher Workshops" link on the aeronautics' Web site at www.itd.idaho.gov.
