I-84 returns to two-way traffic near Jerome
TWIN FALLS - Westbound traffic on Interstate 84 between Jerome and Twin Falls will move to the eastbound lanes beginning Sunday, July 15 as the rehabilitation project shifts to the westbound lanes.

Interstate 84 from the South Jerome Interchange to the U.S. 93 Junction (milepost 167-172) will be reduced from four to two lanes and is open to two-way traffic in the eastbound lanes only. Crews recently finished rehabilitating the eastbound lanes and will be reconstructing the westbound lanes beginning Monday, July 16.

Vehicles are limited to a maximum width of 14 feet through the construction zone. The speed limit is reduced to 65 miles per hour. Delays of 10-15 minutes can be expected. The Jerome Rest Area (milepost 171) will continue to be closed during this phase of construction, which is expected to be completed by September.

This section of interstate is deteriorated and cracked. The $9.7 million rehabilitation project will create a safer, smoother surface. Western Construction of Boise is the project contractor. For construction information, call WCI at 208-345-1440.

Motorists are reminded to slow down in highway construction zones. Rear-end collisions account for most work zone crashes. Following too closely, inattentive driving, failing to yield the right of way and improper lane changes also contribute to accidents in work zones.
