Overnight I-84 closures this week for temporary pavement repairs in Canyon County

CALDWELL – The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will close Interstate 84 overnight this week to repair potholes and rough pavement between 10th Avenue (Exit 28) in Caldwell and Karcher Road (Exit 33) in Nampa.

  • Westbound I-84 will close tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 11, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Eastbound I-84 will close on Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • A detour through Caldwell Boulevard will be in place both nights. Download WB map. Download EB map.

“The harsh winter weather we’ve had lately is causing the older pavement to deteriorate,” said Andrew Linder, ITD project manager. “We are acting quickly to keep driving conditions smooth and safe over the winter.”

ITD is building new travel lanes in the median of I-84 in Canyon County. Traffic will move to this new pavement in the spring and summer of 2022. The existing deteriorated pavement will then be fully reconstructed. All work will be completed in 2023.
