ITD lowers speed limit on Idaho 75 in Bellevue to 25 miles per hour
SHOSHONE - Nearly four months after the City of Bellevue enacted a new speed limit for the town's main street, it was made official on Thursday with the change of speed limit signs on Idaho 75 at the north and south ends of town by the Idaho Transportation Department.

The Bellevue City Council passed an ordinance on April 12 setting the maximum speed limit within the city to 25 miles per hour. The process was slowed because the Idaho Transportation Department needed to complete necessary work to make the change.

"We had to wait to submit it as an official entry before we could change the signs," said Bruce Christensen, ITD  traffic engineer. The change was made by the city because of pedestrian concerns.

The new speed limit begins and ends at city limits, from milepost 110.6 to 112.75. The change increases the length of the 25 miles per hour speed zone an additional 1.3 miles through the town to about 2.1 miles.
