Winther again wins District 2 equipment roadeo title

The annual ITD equipment roadeo season is now underway, as District 2 kicked off the 2019 events last Thursday (May 16) with about 15 participants converging on the Dworshak Dam site in Orofino.

When the dust cleared, Ty Winther, foreman for the Moscow/Potlatch maintenance shed, emerged with yet another district title, and advanced to the state event for the 10th time. Winther, the state champ last year, will head the D2 contingent June 18 at Blacks Creek in Boise.

James Lockhart (Powell maintenance), Leon Thornton (Shop) and Derek McKinney (Moscow/Potlatch maintenance) finished 2-3-4 in the district event, behind Winther.

“I’m excited once again to be a part of the state roadeo competition,” Winther said. “I look forward every year to meeting new people from our organization. This event is a great test of your skills, and helps to familiarize you with new equipment.”

“I encourage everyone to come out and participate in the roadeo events and meet your co-workers from around your district and throughout the state.”
