Improvements to ITD Innovation site
streamline submission of your ideas

In the spirit of continuous improvement, ITD recently overhauled the Innovate ITD site to make it easier to submit new ideas, and to revamp recognition by immediate supervisors when an idea has been submitted or an innovation implemented.

With the updated site, an email is now sent directly to the person’s immediate supervisor to alert them that an innovation has been submitted. This allows the supervisor to be aware of the employee’s submission so they can participate in the process as the idea unfolds, or recognize the idea submission for an employee’s performance evaluation.

The submission form has been improved to be more dynamic, only making necessary fields visible. For example, the intent was for cost- and time savings fields to only be counted for “implemented” innovations. But the fields were previously available for "ideas" as well, making what was required by the submitter ambiguous, and sometimes temporarily skewing data.

“This should make it easier to fill out the submission form and improve the data being entered on the Innovate ITD website,” said Jake Legler, an innovation steward for the Division of Engineering Services.

Legler said that the innovation site is a work in progress, and that there are further improvements he and the Innovation Stewards would like to see implemented in the future as the site is continually refined.

These improvements will help to ease the submission process, but any questions or requests for assistance can be directed to the Innovation Stewards:
