Moad steps in as new Idaho Transportation Board Chairman, replacing Whitehead

After a decade of service on the Idaho Transportation Board, Chairman Jerry Whitehead will step aside for newly appointed Bill Moad, who will preside over the monthly board meeting in July. Moad was at the June meeting, but primarily as an observer.

Idaho Governor Brad Little announced the appointment of Moad on May 21.

"I'm honored to be appointed by the Governor, and look forward to working with the board as we access the various requests from the department to enhance our transportation system," Moad said."I appreciate past Chairman Whitehead and his 10 years of dedication and time spent on the board. I know the citizens of Idaho appreciate all of his efforts as well."

ITD Director Brian Ness echoed the praise for Whitehead.

“I want to thank Chairman Whitehead for a decade of service on the Idaho Transportation Board,” Ness wrote in an email to employees May 22 announcing the switch. “He came to ITD from the private sector and instilled his strong sense of business into our organization. His leadership and support of our innovative culture is the key reason we are seen as a model transportation agency by our peers across the country.”

Ness sees that strong leadership continuing under Moad.

“Chairman Moad comes to ITD from the private sector. He was a fleet operations manager at Simplot Company and a president of the Idaho Trucking Association. This is an exciting time for ITD. Our board now has a new chair and two members recently appointed by Governor Little—Bob Hoff in District 6 and Jim Thompson in District 1.”

Whitehead was named to the Board in March 2009 as the D3 representative, and has served as Chairman since February 2012, when he replaced Darrell Manning.
