ITD Director Brian Ness shared more on his background, focused on taking leadership roles and challenges throughout his engineering career. Dr. Jeremy Graves, a Boise State University professor, executive coach and consultant talked candidly about generations, and especially, communication in the workplace—as part of an interactive conversation and discussion with employees. Later in the day, Dr. Heidi Reeder—also an instructor at Boise State turned the attention to innovation—and evolving communication processes.

Over lunch, Boise State Head Basketball Coach Leon Rice shared highlights on team-building and preparing for success—from the basics of showing up on time and being present.

Woven throughout the summit, were videos from across the department highlighting innovations that have shaped processes, save money, and increase productivity. After lunch, high-energy group activities brought all attendees together—for a fun-filled time of enhancing communication and skill. A facilitation  Q & A session wrapped up the day—with plenty of thoughts on how we as an organization grow and challenge ourselves to do better, everyday.

The takeaway from the summit—that innovation has become a part of what we do. However, it’s the communication across generations and inspiring one another to lead—and accept that with that can come risk and failure—but that’s ok. But it’s the goal of reaching higher—with everything we do, that’s paramount.
