Innovation Steward Profile:
Shauna Miller, Public Transportation & Aeronautics

Innovation is often cyclical, and in the best scenarios, a continuous loop. The movement from idea to invention to improvement to implementation is frequently not a straight line, or even a predictable progression. Shauna Miller recently stepped into that cycle.

Miller, who can be reached at extension 8533, became the innovation steward for the Division of Aeronautics and for the Public Transportation office earlier this fall.

“I was inspired by my fellow stewards and seeing their passion and dedication in being champions for the remarkable individuals that come up with these brilliant ideas on ways to keep our people safe and make ITD a better organization,” Miller explained.

“I knew with my background and experience, it was something I could help with and would enjoy doing.”

Although she has not been a steward long, Miller already has a favorite part regarding the new experience.

“My favorite part is working with all the stewards and helping bring the ideas and innovations to life across the entire state. I think it’s fantastic that we get the opportunity to help empower the innovators of ITD into seeing their visions come to life,” she explained.

And she already has a few tips for employees:

“If you are hesitant to submit an idea or innovation, reach out to any of us for help if you have an idea to submit but don’t quite know where to start. We will gladly be your cheerleaders!

“Your ideas matter and we want to hear about them,” said Miller. "ITD would not be the organization we are if it weren’t for all employees being empowered to make a better future.“
