Top Shot contest seeks wintry photos

A sequel to last summer’s photo contest will kick off Monday, Jan. 13 in an effort to highlight one of ITD’s greatest success stories: winter operations. Click to download the contest poster for this season's event.

“This time of year is one of the best times to talk about ITD’s mission, while simultaneously highlighting the beauty of our state,” said Jessica Williams, public information specialist for District 4 and manager of ITD’s Instagram account.

“We can grab someone’s attention on social media with an appealing photo and pair that with an informative caption that will help educate drivers of the department’s operations and help prepare them for navigating winter roads.”

All employees are encouraged to capture snowy scenes, whether it is a plow in action or a powder-covered forest highway, and send them to their regional public information representative. Here's a list of those contacts:

District 1 & 2 - Megan Sausser
District 3 - Jake Melder
District 4 - Jessica Williams
District 5 & 6 - Megan Stark
Headquarters - Reed Hollinshead

Any photo received by the March 21 deadline will qualify for the competition.

The contest rules haven’t changed, but now the subject matter of the images could include white landscapes, wildlife, seasonal construction and anything related to plowing.

This time, the winning photographer will not only garner bragging rights to the state’s top shot, but they will also receive a canvas, metal or acrylic print to display.
