Lakey named new D3 District Engineer

Caleb Lakey is the new D3 District Engineer, replacing Amy Revis, who is retiring after more than five years at the helm for D3 and 37 years spent in transportation, including three decades at the Washington State DOT. Lakey’s official start date will be February 9.

“I am really enthused about all the good things ITD has going on culturally and organizationally,” Lakey said. “ITD is a great organization, full of dedicated people. Being selected to the lead the District 3 team is a huge honor.”

Lakey started working at District 3 in July 2017 as Engineering Manager, responsible for scoping, traffic, materials, and survey. He started with ITD as a staff engineer in Environmental at Headquarters and has also been the State Asset Management Engineer and Transportation Systems Engineer. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served as an engineering project officer and platoon leader in the U.S. Army before coming to ITD.

“Being invited to participate at this level in discussions with the Highway Leadership Team (HILT) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) is an exciting way to contribute to the future success of the department,” he added.

Lakey will join the HILT and SLT for February’s meetings.

ITD Chief Operations Officer Travis McGrath said Lakey stood out from a strong internal and external candidate pool for his commitment to cultural improvement and to the One Highways concept.
