DMV's Lisa McClellan selected for AAMVA Leadership Academy

DMV Operations Manager Lisa McClellan has been selected to attend the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators' (AAMVA) Leadership Academy May 4-7 in Arlington, Virginia.

The week-long leadership academy provides professional development opportunities for employees who have demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to succeed in positions of greater responsibility within their agencies. The academy includes modules on defining leadership, team work and collaboration and organizational performance management. Only 20 people are selected from applicants across the United States and Canada.

"AAMVA is an amazing organzation. I have attended three AAMVA conferences, and at each I'm constantly impressed by the knowledge, best-practice sharing, support and comaradery," McClellan said. "More than that, I'm reminded of how much I need to learn and grow in all areas of the DMV. The folks at the conferences and AAMVA are very professional, with a focus on building up others. They make you feel so comfortable...like...they've been there!"

McClellan marks 15 years with ITD in late November.

She said one of her goals is to improve her professional skills in coaching and developing employees and teams.

“I am proud that Lisa was selected to represent Idaho in the AAMVA Leadership Training," said DMV Administrator Alberto Gonzalez. "This training selects proven leaders that are poised to rise to positions of greater responsibility. Lisa has always demonstrated her ability to successfully take on additional responsibilities and we are fortunate to have her as a leader in the DMV. Her attendance in this training will benefit us all here at ITD.”
